Provincial Team (1)

Basketball Manitoba has announced the lineup of coaches for this summers provincial teams. Pilots head coach Pierre Dubreuil has been selected to lead the 15U Male team to the National Championships in Sherbrooke, Quebec. Dubreuil will be assisted by decorated coach Stephen Tackie, who was previously been involved with AIA and a feature instructor at Providence Basketball Camp.

“Pierre Dubreuil began playing basketball at the age of 15 years old in his home country of France. After playing for 2 years, he started coaching and refereeing, finding more drawn to that side of the game. He received mentoring from local professional coaches, helping him to develop his skills and leadership early on in his career.

After 11 years of coaching and refereeing at the pre-national level, he moved to Canada in May 2018. That summer, he took over the Men's Basketball program at Providence University College and has reshaped the Pilots program over the last 5 years, into a more structured and professional basketball program.

Coach Pierre led the Pilots to their first championship during the 2021-2022 season, winning the Manitoba Colleges Athletic Conference title 19 years after their last win. Coach Pierre has led multiple basketball camps in Canada and France over the years and has mentored multiple coaches to develop the game of basketball in his community.” (Basketball Manitoba)

Also in the lineup of provincial team coaches, is Providence men’s basketball alumni Eric Sung. Sung played for Providence before transferring to the University of Manitoba and completing his Bachelor of Physical Education and Education degree. Sung currently coaches the Dakota Lancers who are atop the MHSAA 4A standings.
