Ilijah Roque (1)

The Pilots are thrilled to announce their first addition of the off-season. Ilijah Roque of Surrey BC is a speedy 5’9” point guard, with excellent court vision and understanding of the game. Roque was connected to Providence through alumni JT Thompson who has become a recognized skills coach in BC. “Ilijah Roque is a solid point guard with exceptional speed and has the agility to space the floor with consistent perimeter shooting. He is a natural leader that isn’t afraid of leading by example or being vocal. I think playing for Providence will impact Ilijah more personally than anything. I am excited to see Ilijah’s transformation as point guard and his spiritual walk.” JT Thompson

Roque has been a 3-time Adidas Vancouver Top 40 Player from grades 9-11 and likely again this year. Ilijah has been the floor General at Holy Cross Regional High School in Surrey since grade 9. He has received a number of player of the game awards along the way. Ilijah’s high school coach had this to say: “Ilijah is an excellent basketball player. His leadership, work ethic, drive and IQ will help him at the next level and I feel Ilijah can make an instant impact. Holy Cross is not only losing a phenomenal and dedicated player, but also an amazing person. I look forward to watching Ilijah play and compete at the college level next year.” Anthony Pezzente

“It was very exciting to come out and meet Coach Pierre as well as see the school and what it has to offer. Everybody made me feel so welcomed. After the visit I felt that this is a great place to attend post secondary and to also be a Student-Athlete. I am thankful to coach Pierre for giving me the opportunity, and I am ready to embrace the journey at Providence. Go Pilots!” Ilijah Roque

“I’m thankful that Ilijah and his family trusted us with his education and college career. After spending some time with him and his parents, I know he has the family structure and support to be successful at the next level. Ilijah is a small shifty and crafty guard. What he lacks in size, he makes up with speed, hard work and great court vision. Along side returner Blake Garing and Kevin Martinez, Ilijah will take care of the PG position for the Pilots. I am convinced that his impact on our level of play is going to be felt very early in the season. I can’t wait to start working with him and the rest of the new recruiting class in the Fall.” Pierre Dubreuil

Ilijah Roque will be taking General Studies at Providence this fall.
