(WINNIPEG) - Providence got goals from four different scorers, including 3 in the final forty-five minutes, as the Pilots came from behind to beat USB 4-1 on Saturday afternoon in MCAC men’s soccer action.

Very few quality chances emerged for either team in the opening half, but a breakthrough finally came in the 25th minute when Derrick Yapi’s shot skipped past Pilots’ goalkeeper Blake Harder (St. Andrews, MB) to put the hosts ahead 1-0.

After Garreth Rayner’s (Johannesburg, SA) freekick attempt from 25-yards out skimmed the Rouges crossbar, Nate Martin (Niverville, MB) would equalize for the visitors, minutes before the halftime whistle. On the play, the athletic defender rose above his marker to meet Tate Teichgraber’s (Tsawwassen, BC) in-swinging corner kick and nodding in his first career MCAC goal to bring the Pilots level at the break.

The late first half goal sparked Providence. Three goals in the final frame, each roughly ten minutes apart, would elevate the Pilots and in turn, put the match to bed. First, Zach Harman (Langley, BC) scored his second of the season, followed closely by Joel Umeh (Calgary, AB) who counted his third in three matches in the 69th minute for the visitors. Kian Minnaar’s (Steinbach, MB) first of the season completed the scoring for the Pilots 13 minutes before the full-time whistle.

The 4-1 win improves Providence’s streak to five games undefeated, with a draw and a win coming in Week 5 of the season. The Pilots and USB each managed 6 shots on target through 90 minutes while Providence out-chanced the hosts on cornerkicks in the contest by a count of 4 to 1.
