Pilots Women’s Soccer Add Sixth Recruit from Steinbach Manitoba Sarah Friesen

Otterburne, MB - Providence head coach Tory Walker announced the addition of Steinbach local talent Sarah Friesen as part of the 2022 signing class on Monday.

The Steinbach defender has played for club team Hanover Fusion and Steinbach Regional Secondary School the past few years. Friesen brings strong communication, tackling, and good ball distribution to the Pilots team. When it comes to past achievements, her club team has been a top team for a number of years, winning the league championship in the WYSA in 2017 as well as Golden Boy silver medal in 2020. Friesen has also captained her high school team this past season.

"I am beyond excited to become a part of the Pilots family!" Friesen continued, "The things I am most excited for are to play for a new team, travel and get to know the new group of girls that I will be playing with for my time here at Providence. I am hoping to build good, meaningful friendships and make a good, positive impact on the Providence women's soccer team. I feel so blessed to be given this opportunity. I cannot wait for fall of 2022!"

Outside of soccer Friesen enjoys working out, spending time with friends and family, and watching sports. She is also actively involved at Southland Church in Steinbach as a youth leader through the Leaders Through Action program there.

Head coach Tory Walker commented on his newest recruit by saying, “We have really enjoyed getting to know Sarah through our recruitment process. She brings a strong desire for the things we care about here like friendships, positive communication and a love and competitiveness for the game of soccer. Sarah is going to fit in well with our team and we are really excited she chose Providence.”

Welcome to the Pilot family Sarah!
