(OTTERBURNE) – Rookie striker Serena Negrich (Burnaby, BC) scored her first career hat-trick while eight other Pilots added their names to the official scoresheet as Providence struck for 11 goals against the Assiniboine Cougars on Saturday afternoon, in a shutout performance.

After Lauryn Mazda (Kelowna, BC) opened the scoring for the home team thirteen minutes into the match, the Providence goals came fast and furious, with the hosts counting 4 more before the halftime whistle. Paige Heide (Steinbach, MB) scored her seventh of the season in minute-18 followed closely by Amieka de Klein (Blumenort, MB), who registered her second, six minutes later. Holly Fullerton (Langley, BC) and Sam Moffit (Niverville, MB) scored within 60 seconds of each other, their second and first respectively in the 33rd and 34th minute. The Pilots would take a 5-0 lead into the half.

Negrich’s hat-trick headlined the second forty-five minutes, but her trio of goals didn’t come until Christian Reimer (Blumenort, MB), Kayla Miller (Altona, MB) and Laurianne Chaisson (Victoria, BC) had increased the margin to 8-0 in favour of the Pilots.

The stage was set for the rookie scoring-phenom to score her seventh, eighth and ninth goal of the season, launching the Providence attacker into a tie with Brandon’s Brogan Henry in the race for the 2023 MCAC Golden Boot for women’s soccer.

The win lifts the Pilots to 8-0-2 on the season, level on points with the Bobcats though Brandon holds a game in hand on Providence.

Isabella Geith (Winnipeg, MB) stopped three shots in the Pilots’ goal to collect her fourth clean sheet of the season.
