Jasmine Horwood, will be joining fellow Plainsmen Emma Wiebe at Providence this fall. Both girls have officially signed with the Pilots. Horwood, an Honor Roll student will be entering the Aviation program at Providence, with plans to fly not only on the court, but also high above gym! Jasmine split point guard duties for the Plainsmen this year, helping lead her team to the 4A provincials. Naturally, she is a pass first guard who prides herself in creating open looks for her teammates. Don’t let that mindset fool you, she is tough as nails. Outside of basketball, Jasmine competes in men’s hockey and baseball, pushing her to play a more physical game.
Jasmine is a busy student, playing multiple sports and volunteering her time through coaching and other service work in the Brandon, MB community. Her teammates see her as a supportive leader, who keeps positive and encouraging on and off the court. The well-rounded member of the Plainsmen is a high achiever and will look to continue those ways as she flies with the Pilots this fall.
“I am thankful to have had such great coaches and mentors while playing high school basketball. Without them, I would not be where I am today. Basketball has not just improved my skills on the court but allowed friendships to be created with people all over Manitoba.” Jasmine Horwood
“I am excited to add a player with grit and determination like Jasmine. I was quite impressed with her performance in playoffs and provincials this year. She is a tough player who controls her body well and can play a physical game. She is very excited to be at Providence next year and that enthusiasm is a strong sign of the 'buy in' she has. I think she is going to love playing in our system and it will bring the best out of her!” Joel Coursey
Horwood becomes the 7th addition to the Pilots this offseason. Welcome to the program!
