(NIVERVILLE) – Fourteen Pilots registered baskets on Saturday night as Providence topped the University of St-Boniface 79-62 in MCAC Women's Basketball action.

Third-year guard, Abby Matuszewski (Winkler, MB) led Providence's very balanced offense, with 11 points while adding 4 rebounds and 3 steals, while second-year forward, Grace Kitenge (Montreal, PQ) was active on the glass, grabbing a game-high 11 rebounds.

Leading 17-7 at the end of the first quarter, a reset USB defense cooled the Providence scoring as opponents traded baskets in the second frame, ending the half with the Pilots ahead by the same 10-point margin, 32-22.

Playing a basketball system characterized by chaos and high scores, the Pilots forced an enormous 59 turnovers from USB in a contest that produced a combined 141 points. Providence's Claire Grislis' (Winnipeg, MB) was key in getting the ball back for the hosts. The second year guard collected 8 steals while adding a 8 points to the Pilots' pulled away in the third quarter, opening their largest lead of 21 points.

The hosts were outscored 19-15 in the final quarter but the damage was already done as the Pilots improved their MCAC record to 2-1.
