(NIVERVILLE) -Rookie setter, Marcus Zeilstra (Niverville, MB) received his second start on the court that he played his high school volleyball in, subsequently leading his Providence Pilots to a straight sets victory over the University of St-Boniface on Friday night. Through just three sets, Zeilstra would amass 27 assists to take his team over the .500 mark for the first time this season.

The first set saw Providence win comfortably, 25-15. Noah Boschmann (Grunthal, MB) held a hot hand again for the hosts, scoring 13 kills in the match while equaling the block total of teammate Christian Turenne (LaBroquerie, MB) who each finished with three of the team's total of nine blocks.

The visitors battled back in the second set. Providence's largest lead would be only four-points and Les Rouges battled back to make a game of it, narrowly dropping the set 25-23. The Pilots put the match to bed in the third, winning the set, 25-16.

New to the starting lineup, Wyatt Neufeld (Winkler, MB) impressed with 6 kills while Thomas Pain (Vernon, BC) earned player of the game honours with his 6 kills, 1 ace and 1 solo block performance.

Providence makes their long-anticipated return to the Niverville Resource and Recreation Centre on Friday night when they close out the home-portion of the first half of their 2023-24 MCAC men's volleyball season against the ACC Cougars. First serve is scheduled for 8:00 pm.
